PHUKET
Phuket Province has an area of 576 km2 (222 sq mi), somewhat less than that of Singapore, and is the second-smallest province of Thailand. The island was on one of the major trading routes between India and China. It was frequently mentioned in foreign ships’ logs of Portuguese, French, Dutch, and English traders but was never colonized by a European power. It formerly derived its wealth from rubber and now from tourism.
SIMILAN ISLAND
The Similan Islands is one of the best-known island groups in the Andaman Sea, primarily because of the wonders that await beneath the clear-blue waters surrounding it. They’re around 84 km northwest of Phuket. This little archipelago is one of the most exciting diving areas in the world and a favorite destination for yachts and boat tours.
KOH YAO YAI
Ko Yao Yai is a Thai island in the Andaman Sea, halfway between Phuket and Krabi. Sandy shores, mangroves, rubber plantations, and fishing villages characterize it. Beaches include Loh Paret and Loh Jark, with a pier for ferries and long-tail boats. The surrounding waters are rich in coral and dotted with dive sites, like the King Cruiser Wreck near Anemone Reef and Shark Point’s pinnacles.
KOH PHI PHI
Ko Phi Phi is a small archipelago of six islands in Krabi Province, Southern Thailand. It is touted to be one of the most beautiful yet easily accessible island groups in the world. While the latter is undoubtedly true, the former quickly becomes less so. The entire region is technically part of a marine National Park, but visitors’ hordes have taken a toll on the beaches and reefs.
Koh Lanta
Koh Lanta is located in Krabi province, on the Andaman Sea, some 800 kilometers south of Bangkok. It is a tranquil and natural destination with its charm. The island is still largely unspoiled, offering some beautiful beaches, superb low and green mountain backdrops, an abundance of wildlife, and a short distance from some of the most highly-rated diving spots in the region.
